Peel team wins UCDA award!

Congratulations to author/curator Linda Quirk, to designer Lara Minja, to photographer Jeff Papineau, to editor Cheryl Cundell, and to everyone on the Peel team! 

With this win—a 2026 Silver Award (in the book category) for Forgers, Fakers, and Publisher-Pirates (2025)—Robert Desmarais has lead the team at Bruce Peel Special Collections to a remarkable record of twelve UCDA awards in the past decade, a record of wins that is unique among Canadian libraries.

The University & College Designers Association (UCDA) honours design work in post-secondary institutions in North America and around the world with an annual design competition in which over 1,000 print and digital entries compete in categories ranging from research publications to recruitment materials and from donor reports to alumni publications. Design honours in the category of exhibition catalogues regularly go to university museums, galleries, artists, and photographers. 

The new exhibition at Bruce Peel Special Collections for 2026-27 is The Science and Engineering of Machines: An Exhibition of Machine Books, 1472 to 1800. You won't want to miss it!
